Leaks represent a constant concern for those who have a pool at home.
Even if the pool has been built correctly, following all the rules, just thinking of spotting a leak in the pool people already shiver! However, the existence of leaks in swimming pools is relatively rare, since with current technologies it is possible to guarantee the water tightness of the reservoir even if there is no waterproofing in the old fashioned way. Currently most of the leaks happen in inflatable pools and “riding” pools. In these, the recommendation is, where necessary, to have the repair kit supplied with the pool. Small repairs are easy to do and can extend the life of the inflatable pool for several years. However, an even greater problem than finding a leak is to see that the water level is dropping and not knowing where and where it is going!
How to identify a leak in the pool? There is no way to solve a problem without finding your cause, right? So identifying the leak is the first step in solving the pool water loss problem. If the water level is lowering, ideally try to manually identify the location where the water is going. Wait for a very sunny day to check every inch of the pool liner. Vinyl swimming pools can easily display the location of the leak since it tends to create wrinkles exactly where the water is leaking. In masonry and tile pools it is a bit more complicated due to the presence of the grout.
How to identify the leak in the pool grout?
The initial idea is the same: do a check and try to identify, on a sunny day, places where water may be leaking. If you identify, it is possible to hire a specialized company to make this timely repair. If you do not identify, it is worth taking the level test. Level test to identify pool leakage. Use a pencil to mark the height of the pool water on the wall. Take a very visible risk as pool water may come and make it difficult to see.
Use one, two or more days for the pool level to stabilize at one point. If the level stops falling, mark this new point with a pencil and you will already know that the pool spill is exactly at this point. It is valid to look at this time of the coating, but it is important to remember that the leak can also be internal and therefore not visible without a small (or not so small) breaker. To lower and stay below half of the pool wall, suspend the procedure, as swimming pools, as a rule, cannot be empty for a long time! In this case, it is interesting to contact a company specialized in swimming pools to find the leak and only then be able to treat it.
Identifying leaks in inflatable and riding pools is much easier to do. The best way is to place the inflatable pool (already filled with air) in a container with water. Depending on the dimensions of the pool, it is possible to do this test in the same tank. However, if it is too large you will only be able to test it in another pool. Another good way to find the pool leak is to place it against the light. It will be visible the place where the sun passes and there will be marked as a point to be repaired. Like any other product, the pool is a good that needs to be used with care and careful reading of the instruction manual can avoid several problems. Whether it’s the inflatable pool, the mount or even fiber or vinyl, read the entire manual so you do not have to look for leaks in it! The durability of any product is always directly related to its good use.
